ITMA Returns to Barcelona in 2019
After its successful 2011 edition in the Catalan capital and following its stop in Milan in 2015, the ITMA organisers have decided that the Gran Via exhibition centre at Fira de Barcelona will once again host this leading textile machinery event, scheduled to take place from 20 to 26 June next month.
Promising figures
The four-yearly frequency of this trade fair makes each edition widely recognised as an unmissable opportunity. On this occasion, it is expected to surpass the record number of exhibitors achieved in the previous edition (1,691 from nearly fifty countries), which is forecast to attract more than 100,000 textile industry professionals. With figures like these, it is no surprise that the exhibition space will exceed 100,000 m².
What to see
When a trade fair achieves the prestige of ITMA, it naturally becomes a hive of activity where manufacturers, distributors, business owners, traders, and all kinds of buyers—and even mechanical engineers—find excellent opportunities to showcase themselves and do business. The product catalogue will be virtually endless, allowing visitors to explore the latest innovations in centrifuges, washing machines, dryers, spinning technology, bleaching and dyeing machinery, and more. In addition, service providers will have the opportunity to present their advancements in laboratory testing, equipment transport, recycling, software design, and data control, among others.
R&D and sustainability
The in-house research and development pavilion will enable universities and other educational institutions to offer training opportunities and present the latest results of their work and projects in the textile machinery industry.
Linked to the above, it is worth noting that this trade fair serves as an ideal platform for discussing environmental issues, solutions for industry improvement, and the promotion of recycling. For this reason, awards will be given to the most sustainable initiatives at the event, some of which will be aimed at students. In each stand, all kinds of textile materials are used, and once the fair is over, the organization collects everything and ensures that any leftover materials are recycled.
For this year’s edition, whose focus has been summarized under the slogan “Innovating the world of textiles”, Fritz P. Mayer, president of the Cematex industry association and head of the event’s organization, promises a reflection on the adaptation of textiles to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which implies an increase in automation and digitalization in industrial processes, as well as the exploitation and management of real-time data.
